BBC One head back inside The Repair Shop

The Repair Shop returns with a series of six brand new episodes…

Jay Blades and the team of highly experienced expert crafters are back in the barn for episodes full of more fascinating and heart-warming fixes from every corner of the UK.

Presenter, Jay Blades:

“If you’re super excited about The Repair Shop coming back, you’re not the only one. We work really hard to make sure people’s dreams come true, so to be able to show you guys what we’ve done is so exciting.”

From the linen mills of Northern Ireland to an Italian treasure that found a home in Liverpool, from Port Glasgow to London’s Holloway fire station, the team have been travelling the length and breadth of the country to unearth some extraordinary fixes.

They include some cowboy boots connected to iconic musician Elton John that will blow your socks off; a Roald Dahl gate which sees Will venture outside the barn to deliver; Chris Shaw takes on a World War II code-breaking cookbook which will leave viewers intrigued; Lucia restores a fire station painting to its former glory – one of the biggest fixes in her history at the barn while Sonnaz repairs an armchair which tells a poignant story from the 1980’s AIDS crisis.

The Repair Shop also welcomes a new expert to the barn this year, Rebecca Bissonnet, a skilled textiles conservator who has worked in restoration at places like Hampton Court Palace, and Kensington Palace and on countless priceless items including Queen Elizabeth’s coronation dress. Rebecca has been busy with some precious clothing repairs and in particular an Irish dancing dress in episode two in need of some intricate repair work.

Presenter, Jay Blades:

“The show goes from strength to strength, and I think that is simply because we’re talking about community, it’s all about working together as a team and achieving a common goal for someone. It was great to welcome Rebecca to the barn, she just fitted like a glove and it’s always so special to be able to learn different skills from different people. We can’t wait to share these new episodes.”

The Repair Shop returns to BBC One and BBC iPlayer from Wednesday 10 April at 8pm
