OTD, March 26th, 1974…
John Withington reports from outside the house of D. H. Lawrence’s birthplace. View of old terraced houses to be demolished and waste ground where the new estate that will contain Chatterley Mews is to be built. John speaks with people on the street in Eastwood about the idea to name a road after a book by the writer.
It follows newspaper reports that some locals in Eastwood, Nottinghamshire, were not happy about a new street to be called ‘Chatterley Mews’. The development appears to have later abandoned the name.
