BAFTA TV Awards see Helena Bonham Carter with Nolly nomination

Helena Bonham Carter nominated for a BAFTA gong for Nolly role

The BAFTA TV Awards have announced that Helena Bonham Carter has been nominated for ‘Leading Actress’ in the 2024 gongs for her role as Noele Gordon in ITVX drama Nolly. The series, which is currently airing stateside on PBS Masterpiece, has already picked up several awards including a BAFTA Wales award for the script by Russell T Davies.

Nolly, which charts the life of Crossroads’ leading lady Noele Gordon, has also picked up four prizes at the RTS North West Awards; those for Best Drama, Script Writer, Performance in a Drama (for Helena Bonham Carter) and the Visual Post-production award, which went to Paul Ensby, a colourist at post-production house Picture Shop.

Mark Gatiss has been nominated for a national RTS Television award as ‘best supporting male performer’ for his role as Larry Grayson in the drama while Broadcasting Press Guild Awards have listed Nolly in two categories – Best Single Drama or Mini-Series and Best Script.

The BAFTA TV Awards sees Helena up against Anjana Vasan in Demon 79 (Black Mirror) from Netflix, Anne Ried in BBC One’s The Sixth Commandment, Bella Ramsey in The Last of US which aired on Sky Atlantic, Sharon Horgan in Best Interests from BBC One and Sarah Lancashire for BBC One’s Happy Valley.
