Pocket Garden Makeover competition launched by The One Show

The Royal Horticultural Society and The One Show have united to launch a Pocket Garden Makeover Prize…

The competition will allow one lucky winner to have their small outdoor space, courtyard or balcony transformed by an expert gardening team.

Joanne Vaughan-Jones, Editor The One Show:

“We know how transformative having access to outdoor space can be for our viewers no matter how small, so we’re excited to be teaming up with landscape garden designer Chris Hull and The RHS to help make a pocket sized space a personal paradise and share some brilliant tips along the way”

No matter how small a space you have to work with, having your an outdoor mini-oasis can enrich your life, help your mental health, and make your local community a greener and more beautiful place to be. Together the RHS & The One Show want to demonstrate the positive benefits of gardening and highlight the small changes people can make to their ‘pocket-sized’ outdoor space that will help them connect with plants, wildlife, grow vegetables, provide a calming sanctuary or a small place to relax with family and friends.

The contest is open for entries between Monday 18 March 2024 and Monday 25 March 2024. It calls on people to enter themselves, or nominate someone they know, who needs a revitalised small outdoor space. Entrants will be asked to demonstrate the impact this will have on them or the person they nominate, and their creative vision for the space. The winner will receive a small garden space or balcony makeover up to the value of £5,000 by an expert landscaping team, including a consultation and design from presenter and landscape garden designer Chris Hull.

Chris, known for his designs and presenting BBC One’s Garden Rescue, will transform the small outdoor space ensuring that the lucky winner’s ideas and inspiration come to life.

Chris Hull:

“No matter what the size, everyone deserves a garden space where they can relax, immerse themselves in nature, and support wildlife in their local area. I can’t wait to help the worthy winner and to inspire many more people to ‘green-up’ their lives.”

Entries close at 5pm on Monday 25 March 2024, and the results will be announced on The One Show in May. To submit an entry and learn more about the RHS and The One Show Pocket Garden Makeover prize, including full terms and conditions, visit: www.rhs.org.uk/pocketgardenmakeovercontest
