Nimesh Joshi, who is currently the Programme and Digital Editor at ITV Central will take up a new role within regional ITV…
Nimesh has been in a leadership role within ITV News for more than a decade, with roles including Deputy Head of News at West Country in 2016 before becoming the Programme and Digital Editor for Channel Television in Jersey and then moving into the same role at ITV Central.
Since joining as a production journalist in 2010, Nimesh has played a significant part in helping to develop digital and diversity strategies across ITV News. He currently represents the region on the company’s Inclusion and Diversity Council and has also been an important link between ITV News and journalism training courses across the country. “To come back to ITV West Country as Head of News is both a real honour and privilege, especially at such an exciting time for ITV News. It’s an incredible and varied patch, which is really exciting – especially in the year of the General Election and with all the great work I’ve seen on the West Country regional rail on ITVX.
“I’ve been so lucky to work in three fantastic regions: Central, West Country and Channel. The past five years, returning to Central as Programme and Digital Editor, have been wonderful, fun and challenging. I’ll miss this fantastic team and I’m very proud of everything we’ve achieved in this time. I’m really excited to be back at West Country and looking forward to what is to come next.”
ITV Westcountry currently comprises of the ITV South West and ITV West regions following a merger of the two broadcast areas in 2009. ITV West launched as TWW in 1958. It was replaced by HTV in 1968 and rebranded ITV in 2003. ITV Westcountry began broadcasting as WestWard Television in 1961, it was replaced in 1982 by Television South West and by Westcountry Television in 1993. Westcountry was rebranded as ITV in 2003. The TWW and HTV services had, until 2009, also been part of the company that also served Wales. ITV Wales is now separate and standalone.
ITV regional news airs weekdays from 6 pm
