Lulu talks ‘Champagne Tour’ with Lorraine Kelly

Today on Lorraine, Lulu joined Lorraine Kelly on the sofa to celebrate 60 years in music…

On the title of the tour being named ‘Champagne for Lulu‘, Lulu explained “Thank you Jennifer for that title. Because she uses it in Ab Fab [sitcom Absolutely Fabulous], wherever I go in the world there are people that just call out in the street, ‘Champagne for Lulu’.”

Lulu also revealed for the very first time, that this tour will be a farewell tour, saying;

“This is the first time I have said this but this is a farewell tour with family and friends which leaves a little ‘who, what, when’. I did a tour last year which was gruelling for many reasons and I don’t have to go into them all but I’m 75, I don’t feel it but I am. I thought it’s got to be a celebration because you know how much I love to sing.”

On continuing to work and make music, Lulu said “I want to work and I want to keep working. I am going to do an album with very interesting people. So this is a celebration. I start in Glasgow and I do two warm up gigs, before the tour opens in my hometown.”

Whilst Lulu hinted that there might be ‘friends’ joining her on the tour, Lulu revealed “Gary Barlow called me before but he is not necessarily coming but we talked, let me just say”. Lulu added “That’s kind of what I felt about a celebration, Champagne for Lulu, it’s sort of farewell to touring so my die hard fans will not be happy about that but I’m not saying I’m going to stop.”
