On this Day 1973: The Sex Maniacs Diary

OTD, January 9th 1973…

ATV Today reported on two Cotswold Hotels that had been listed in a Sex Guide Book, ‘The Sex Maniacs Diary‘.

The Lygon Arms at Broadway and the Manor House Hotel at Moreton-in-Marsh were the only Midlands hotels to feature in the 1973 publication. Ruth Elliott interviewed Lord Hertford, Chairman of the West Midland Tourist Board about the two Cotswolds hotels being the only Midlands ones to feature in the dubious publication.

Lord Hertford talks about whether this is a good or bad thing and if it will harm their reputations. He says that he would have been delighted if his property Ragley Hall had been featured.

Hugh Edward Conway Seymour was the 8th Marquess of Hertford and was the son of Brig.-Gen. Lord Henry Charles Seymour and Lady Helen Grosvenor. He was the grandson of both Hugh Seymour, 6th Marquess of Hertford and Hugh Grosvenor, 1st Duke of Westminster. Lord Hugh died in December 1997 however Ragley Hall is still in the family with his son Lord Henry Jocelyn Seymour, 9th Marquess of Hertford,  overseeing the grand house since 1991 which marked its 60th anniversary of being open to the public in 2018.
