Dionne Warwick makes a storm as ‘weather’ on The Masked Singer

Tonight, The Masked Singer returned to our screens as viewers met the first six masked celebrities Maypole, Cricket, Bigfoot, Dippy Egg, Weather and Rat.

Weather became the first character to be unmasked as soul music legend Dionne Warwick

Talking about taking part in the show the iconic singer said: “It’s been an absolute joy, when I was asked to the show I was like yes let’s have some fun, but I can never try to disguise my voice!”

Next Saturday the remaining characters, Air Fryer, Bubble Tea, Owl, Eiffel Tower, Chicken Caesar and Piranha will be taking to the stage to sing in disguise and stump the panel and viewers alike.

What made you take on the challenge of The Masked Singer?

When I got the call and was asked if I would do it here in the UK, I jumped at the opportunity. I said, “Yeah, let’s go have some fun”.

What do you think of some of our panel’s guesses?

It was quite interesting to think that I sounded like Bonnie Tyler, Macy Gray, Sade. I’ll take that!

What are the best and worst things about performing in a costume?

Well, it’s nothing unusual for me to be in what is considered a costume, so I felt right at home. Isn’t it a lovely costume? I’ve had a ball.

How have you found keeping this a big secret?

That’s the hardest part of all because I’m a talker, I love to talk, and I couldn’t talk to anybody. But I had no choice. I had to follow the rules so I didn’t say a word to anybody, and it was the hardest thing in the world for me to do.

Do you think Weather was a good character for you to be?

You know the weather is very unpredictable. I am totally predictable. You always know what Dionne is about and up to. Always!

The Masked Singer, Saturdays at 7pm on ITV1, ITVX, STV and STV Player
