OTD, December 19th, 1977…

He attacked famously Michael Parkinson, he’s also had his beak on Stuart White, Des O’Connor, Richard Whiteley and gave Larry Grayson a pecking several times over various programmes,  yes its that bane of celebrity bottoms – Emu.

On this day in ’77 Rod Hull and that brawdy bird, Emu, were outside Coventry Theatre to promote the ‘Emu in Pantoland’ Christmas pantomime. Tony Maycock talking to Rod Hull about the production and suffering an Emu attack!

The report also shows other cast members  – including Billy Dainty (The Sooty Show), Carl Wayne (Lunchtime with Wogan) and Barbara New (Crossroads) – standing outside the theatre. We also see Rod and Emu meeting the public. Tony Maycock talks to him about the pantomime which had been, according to Hull, written by Emu.

Tony gets attacked for calling the bird crazy.
