A new study has revealed that the earnings of these dead actors and actresses would take the average Brit over 9,000 years to earn.
The highest-earning deceased actor is Elizabeth Taylor, whose earnings of £253.6 million would take an average Brit 9,137 years to earn. The majority of the funds came from the star’s jewellery, clothing, and artwork, which sold for a record $184 million at Christie’s auctions. The most costly item sold for $16 million was a painting by Van Gogh from 1889.
Marilyn Monroe comes in second place with earnings of £146.2 million, which would take the average Brit 5,266 years to earn. Living in luxury, Monroe lavished her money on jewellery, clothes, and her house. She was also very giving to her coworkers and friends. As a result, Monroe’s estate was supposedly ‘only’ worth $370,000 when it was finalised.
Completing the top three is Steve McQueen, his earnings of £56.8 million would take the average Brit 2,047 years to earn. Steve McQueen was worth millions at the time of his death. Posthumously several companies like Rolex and Persol use his name and pay royalties to the McQueen family accordingly.
Researchers have analysed which actors have earned the most since passing away, to reveal the world’s highest-paid dead actors top eight, as listed below:
