Ahead of its on-screen debut, ITV viewers will see a teaser of the promotional trailer for the new series of Love Island: All Stars during this Sunday’s broadcast of An Audience with Kylie and the I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here final.
The promo confirms the return of Love Island presenter Maya Jama, who once again reprises her role for the forthcoming series set to air in January.
Paul Mortimer, Director of Reality Commissioning & Acquisitions and Controller, ITV2, ItvBe:
“After 10 ratings-busting seasons of Love Island on ITV2, we’re delighted to be able to celebrate a decade of the number one dating show on television with the first ever series of Love Island: All Stars. Set in our luxurious South African Villa, I know the audience will welcome back some of the most iconic UK Islanders, as they set out in pursuit of love all over again in a brand new version of our worldwide hit.”
As part of a high fashion, high concept trailer to be revealed in due course, the clip features the glittering shadow of Love Island: All Stars host Maya Jama dressed in a couture gown dimly lit by spotlights as she walks out onto a set.
The teaser ends with a red curtain falling over the iconic Love Island theme tune amidst camera flashes as the brand new Love Island: All Stars logo is revealed alongside the date January 2024.
While the series is hugely popular for ITV2 it has also been at the receiving end of viewer complaints, most recently, in 2022, television regulator Ofcom received thousands of complaints about alleged misogynistic behaviour. The telly regulator decided it wasn’t able to do anything about such content. It’s also had off-screen tragedy with two contestants, Sophie Gradon and Mike Thalassitis committing suicide, following endless media coverage and online harassment.
However, the reason it stays on the air and The Jeremy Kyle Show doesn’t, is that since its launch on ITV2 in 2015 the programme has proved a major money spinner for ITV; the show has amassed over 300 million streams on ITVX. The launch episode of the last series also attracted over 3 million viewers across all devices while this year’s Love Island final was the most watched programme for 16-34s on any channel and the series garnered 1.4 billion video views across all platforms, 56+ million likes on official content and over 1 million comments generated on all official content.
Mike Spencer, Creative Director, Lifted Entertainment:
“It has been rumoured now for a while but we are thrilled to finally confirm that we are making Love Island: All Stars early next year for ITV2 and ITVX. It’s set to be a must watch series seeing some of your favourite Islanders from across the years heading back to the stunning South African villa to once again ‘graft’ as their search for love continues. I simply can’t wait!”
Love Island: All Stars will make its on-screen debut in the new year with famed former Islanders given another shot at finding the one. Produced by Lifted Entertainment, part of ITV Studios, and GroupM Motion Entertainment, Love Island: All Stars will air on ITV2 and ITVX.
