Channel 5 has gained exclusive access to music royalty Dolly Parton for a brand-new special.
Dolly Parton: In Her Own Words is a one-off 90-minute documentary looking at the life of the woman who once said ‘it costs a fortune to look this cheap’.

Being inaugurated into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has allowed Dolly to make her first Rock & Roll album. In this programme, we hear from the global icon herself, talking about her work and how it has led to her remarkable new album, Rockstar.
Using exclusive new interviews and archive footage, Dolly Parton: In Her Own Words explores just what has made Dolly Parton and her music so revered across the Globe. From her epic discography leading to the Rockstar album, Dolly captures the hearts and minds of everyone who discovers her work, irrespective of background, generation, or gender.
In this 90-minute special, alongside hearing from Dolly herself, Channel 5 also speak to singer-songwriters and musicians Emmylou Harris and Peter Frampton, as well as radio and television presenter Ken Bruce, to get further insight into the music of Dolly Parton.
