On this Day 1977: Pinglewick Village

OTD, December 4th, 1977…

Peter Green visited Pinglewick for ATV Today which was at the time of the report a village being developed on a four-acre site near Belper in Derbyshire by a firm of local builders.

The report features an interview with Gerald Finney, one of the building firm’s directors who points out features on a model of the new village. Exterior views of some of the completed houses show the development while Peter speaks with one of the latest residents of the village Mrs Draper and asks her about how she and her family like the new house.

In 1979 ATV Today returned to the village upon the news the developers had won the National House Builder’s Council award for the best low-cost housing development in the North Eastern region in the 1970s.
