A riot develops at Erinsborough High in Neighbours

Monday’s visit to Erinsborough…

Having discovered Nicolette and Wendy are spearheading a secret protest to save the school, Susan is torn knowing this will derail any chance of Terese and Jane reconciling. She is further conflicted when Karl texts her, telling her he’s going to accept Terese’s job offer at the retirement experience.

While she’s internally debating what to do, Jane finds out about the protest via Summer Hoyland’s live radio broadcast. Susan also hears it, and when Summer interviews ex-student Michelle Scully about her time at Erinsborough High and the profound influence the school had on her later life, Susan is deeply moved and finally decides to take a stand, believing the school should be saved from Terese’s development.

When Terese finds Susan and Jane together, she’s doubly betrayed: by Susan’s encouragement that Terese and Jane’s friendship will heal and that Susan didn’t warn her about the protest. When Jane finally learns that Nicolette has secretly organised the school protest, primarily to support her as the school principal, Jane is touched, and rather than shutting down the protest, she joins in with gusto. But when the police arrive, and the protest gets out of hand, Nicolette is left wondering if she’s done Jane and the school more harm than good.

Many staff and students – both past and present – and concerned locals join the school protest, including Melanie, and when Toadie arrives with Terese to shut the protest down, he can’t help noticing her active presence. But when the protestors break the gates and gain access to the school, nobody notices when Melanie is caught up in a skirmish with one of Terese’s security guards.
