Nigel Harman quits Strictly Come Dancing

Nigel Harman has withdrawn from Strictly Come Dancing on medical grounds.

The Casualty star has sustained an injury and will not compete in tonight’s quarter-final, or in the remainder of the competition.

A spokesperson said:

“Unfortunately Nigel has sustained an injury which means he is unable to perform and has had to withdraw from Strictly”.

Harman and his professional partner Katya Jones had been due to dance a Charleston to Step in Time from Disney’s Mary Poppins in the musical-themed quarterfinal. The show’s Instagram page wished him a “speedy recovery” and said the couple would be “missed by the entire Strictly family”.

On whether an elimination will still go ahead, the BBC said that “the logistical details will be revealed on the show this evening”.

There are four remaining celebrities: Ellie Leach, Annabel Croft, Layton Williams, and Bobby Brazier.

Harman is the second celebrity to voluntarily pull out of the show this year following Amanda Abbington’s decision to leave the show in week 5.
