Lulu Celebrates 75th Birthday With Announcement of ‘Champagne for Lulu’ Tour 2024

Lulu:

“75 – I can’t believe it! and 60 years in the business! What an amazing journey it’s been, so many memories – wow.  That’s why I’m going to make sure that my upcoming shows are a momentous celebration.  And I promise to whip up one hell of a party, all the hits, my personal stories from behind the scenes, and of course I’ll be inviting some special guests onto the stage with me. Join me, it’s gonna be the party of a lifetime.”

Today Lulu, turns 75 and to celebrate her birthday she reveals that she’ll be hitting the road in 2024, with her ‘Champagne For Lulu’ tour.  Five spectacular live dates in April, kicking-off in her hometown of Glasgow, and touring through Manchester, Southampton, Birmingham; culminating at The London Palladium.

On 17 April 1964, a 15 year-old Lulu stormed into the UK charts with her iconic, ‘Shout’, a song that would turn the wee girl from Glasgow into a cherished national treasure. Now, exactly 60 years (to the day) since she released ‘Shout’, this pioneer of popular culture prepares to celebrate her 75th birthday year with fans on her “Champagne For Lulu” Tour ending at the London Palladium on Wednesday 17 April 2024.

“Champagne for Lulu” will be a massive celebration with guest performances and Lulu as you’ve never seen her.  She goes beyond the bubbles, delivering the performance of a lifetime. Energetic, effervescent and emotional, this will be an experience to remember. Fans of sitcom Absolutely Fabulous will recall that Lulu was one of the clients of PR guru Eddie played by Jennifer Saunders where the ‘Champagne for Lulu’ catchphrase originated.

Transcending generations with a lifetime of global success,  which boasts accolades including being a Eurovision winner, a Bond Theme singer, releasing the biggest selling record in the US ‘To Sir With Love‘ 1967, and one of the first ever pop artists to perform behind the Iron Curtain in Poland….not to mention receiving an OBE, opening the closing ceremony for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, reaching No1 with the biggest ever boyband since The Beatles, and still going strong as she performed two-nights at the Hollywood Bowl this Summer – Lulu continues to be at the absolute forefront of captivating live entertainment to this very day.

And this is why the UK proudly and ferociously heralds Lulu as one of our most precious pop icons – the glittering jewel in our entertainment cultural crown. Celebrate the legend that is Lulu and her special guests at this 60 year anniversary party.  Let’s get together and raise a glass of champagne for Lulu!
