Tony Maycock continues his report for Central Television’s Central News on the celebrations to mark the twentieth birthday of the ATV television soap opera Crossroads.
Following a feature that aired on November 1st, Tony Maycock continued to look back over two decades of the daily soap, and also in this item what the future held.
Tony Maycock interviews actors Sue Lloyd, Ronald Allen, Paul Henry and Jane Rossington about funny moments on the programme over the years. Brief shot of Jane Rossington at home with her family. Interview with the head of drama for Central Television, Ted Childs about the show’s future which included more use of outside broadcasts. The feature closes with the Crossroads cast singing Happy Birthday.
Crossroads underwent a major revamp in 1985, however a second revamp in 1987 proved less popular and the series ended in April 1988. It returned from March 2001 to May 2003, but this time a lack of viewers saw the doors close for good.
