On this Day 1984: Crossroads’ 20th Anniversary

OTD, November 1st, 1984…

Tony Maycock reports for Central Television’s Central News on the celebrations to mark the twentieth birthday of the ATV television soap opera Crossroads.

Jane Rossington is seen answering the Crossroads Motel telephone as she recreates the first moments from episode one two decades earlier. The series went to air on ATV, Ulster TV and Border Television on November 2nd, 1964, at 6.30pm.

Members of Crossroads cast are then seen celebrating and cutting a birthday cake. Series of stills of actors who have appeared in the series including: Tony Britton; Don Maclean; Jeffrey Holland; Anthony Steel; Dawn Adams; Derek Farr; Diane Keen; Sneh Gupta; Malcolm McDowell; Elaine Paige; Johnny Briggs; Sue Nicholls; Fred Feast; Larry Grayson; Bob Monkhouse; Ken Dodd; Max Wall and Stan Stennett.

Tony Maycock interviews Jane Rossington who has been with the series since the start. She talks about working with Noele Gordon.
