Today in Summer Bay…
Xander panics when he hasn’t booked the entertainment for an incoming Hen’s night at Salt. Desperate, he reaches out to Remi and Eden, and they cut a deal including free meals and drinks for their time. When Justin asks the duo how their writing retreat went, Eden is cagey. Does she regret channelling her negative feelings into a song about Kirby? When they finally do get around to showing Justin the lyrics, he’s stunned. “You can’t use this” he tells them, “It’s about Kirby”.
When the Maid of Honour fronts up and takes offence at Xander’s “corporate nightmare” decorations, she also balks at the idea of live music over karaoke – “This isn’t what I paid for”. Remi and Eden are given their marching orders – though they’re still back later to claim their free drinks – and Xander is at breaking point when the party request their money back. It’s left to a quick-thinking Mali to save the day, and he scoops up the bride-to-be in a solo dance performance. The hens are delighted, and Xander is grateful for Mali’s friendship.
Irene frets following her conversation with Rose – could she really be facing criminal charges?! Nonetheless, she’s firm when John bemoans Harper & Dana later – she would do it again if she had to. Those girls didn’t have a choice. Later, she’s vulnerable with John when she admits to how worried she is about going to prison. John spooks her with talk of a maximum sentence of seven years, but it’s clear he’s going to stand by his friend and support her to the bitter end.
Marilyn still hasn’t visited Roo, but when Alf is called to Merimbula, he’s firm with her – Marilyn’s going to visit Roo today. “Sometimes friendships are tested,” he tells her. “Maybe this is your test”. Can Marilyn repair things with Roo?
