Christmas cards with 3D appeal

3D card maker, Me&McQ, has launched a collection of luxury Christmas cards in time for the 2023 festive season.

It is estimated that in the UK, Brits send around 1 billion Christmas cards each year and every year. However, with only one in four of these cards going on to be recycled, when it comes to taking down the decorations nearly 30,000 tons of cards are thrown away and forgotten about come January.

Me&McQ has been producing 3D greeting cards for nearly 40 years, winning two prestigious Louie Awards for their efforts along the way, and is now the UK’s leading producer of stand-up cards. The maker believes that greeting cards are for more than just a moment, but a gift and keepsake that family members and friends can keep on the mantle, or place in the trophy cabinet, and cherish for years to come.

The 2023 luxury Christmas collection features 45 designs, carefully collaborating previous year’s best sellers with 12 newly recognisable designs. Inspired by quintessential British countryside scenes, iconic festive themes, magical fairytales and their Chocolate Labrador Fable, every card in the collection tells its own very individual story.

There is a card for everyone too, from the traditional to the whimsical, including Santa exploring his garden shed, to sleighs topped high with presents. The Santa Express setting out to deliver gifts, to a London double-decker bus busy with festive animals, as well as a tartan Christmas car, cosy Christmas cottage and a gingerbread house. There are even festive-inspired lanterns, a nativity scene and winter animal displays to choose from.

A company spokesperson said:

“Me&McQ’s Pop Up greeting cards are renowned for their amazing amount of intricate detailing, believing, somewhat contrary to modern design trends, more is more, there is always another surprise waiting to be found in the world of Me&McQ. Crafted by a small team of paper engineers and illustrators, the cards, which never use glue, are laser cut, designed in the UK and hand finished, use premium quality paper and the highest quality printing inks to deliver cards that stand up and stand out, no matter where and when they are displayed.”

Also included in this year’s Christmas luxury collection is the perfect stocking filler, a ‘Let It Snow’ storybook written by author Lauren Everdell of Ubiquitous Books. Illustrated by artist Reuben McHugh, Let It Snow has its own Me&McQ keepsake card to match and tells the story of a proud, free-spirited cat that soon learns a life lesson from his closest friend about a warm welcome.

Me&McQ’s cards are available in two forms, stand-up and 3D, and each card in the 3D collection comes with a personal gift card for sharing a special message. The cards, which come flat packed with a luxury envelope for mailing, are available in independent retailers and at www.meandmcq.com, priced at £6.99.
