Ava Evans ‘It’s like a skit from the 1980s’ on Laurence Fox

Journalist Ava Evans told Good Morning Britain today that people have been threatening to come after her since Laurence Fox’s comments on GB News.

Opening up to Susanna Reid and Ben Shepherd, Ava admitted: “My direct messages on social media are full of people threatening me.”

Speaking of the fall-out after Laurence and presenter Dan Wootton were suspended, she said: “I’m deeply embarrassed by all of it and I’m very appreciative to everyone who has very kindly stood up for me. But it’s the other side of it.

“Half of the comments have been very lovely and supportive. But then, on the other side, they are very threatening.

“[People are saying] that I’m somehow part of this global agenda that is trying to bring down men and [that] I hate all men and therefore that I need to watch my back and be very careful because there are certain people who now are threatening to come after me.

She added: “It feels ridiculous even saying that.”

Talk TV described ‘GB News’ as a ‘Hate Channel’.

Discussing the comments made by Laurence, she added: “It just sort of feels like an out of body experience, looking at it. It’s like a skit from the 1980s or something.

“I don’t think I’ve ever been spoken to, or about, like that, in my whole journalistic career. I am honestly astounded that it was broadcast.”

GB News suspended Fox after he asked what “self-respecting man” would “climb into bed” with her. Presenter, the tabloid hack, Dan Wootton was also suspended. He had also been in the spotlight for other allegations before this incident, which were much more serious but the broadcaster failed to act on those allegations published by Byline Times.

Good Morning Britain weekdays from 6am on ITV1 & ITVX
