Make Some Noise raises over £3 million

Global’s Make Some Noise raises over £3 million during its tenth annual appeal….

Global’s Make Some Noise, the official charity of Global, the Media & Entertainment Group, has raised more than £3 million for small and local charities delivering vital support for people living with mental and physical health issues, debt, homelessness and hunger. This takes the total raised over 10 years to more than £34 million.

Stephen Miron, Group CEO of Global:

“A massive thank you to all our listeners, presenters and Globallers who have once again come together to support just some of the incredible charities who dedicate their time to helping vulnerable people in local communities across the UK. Everyone’s collective effort has raised a remarkable £3 million which will have a profound impact on those facing extraordinarily difficult circumstances.”

Today, for its tenth appeal, Global’s radio brands and presenters joined forces to raise funds for 100 charities in local communities across the UK in desperate need of donations to fund their life-saving work.

In aid of this year’s appeal, Heart Breakfast’s Amanda Holden and Ashley Roberts asked listeners to donate in support of their “Race Against Time” – five epic challenges in five days. It kicked off on Monday this week with Amanda delivering a live broadcast from the very top of the Blackpool Tower – the first member of the public to ever climb that high.

Ashley Roberts also created a #TrollsDanceChallenge in partnership with Trolls Band Together, the brand-new animated film from Universal Pictures UK which has matched £150,000 worth of donations.

Over on Radio X, Chris Moyles and his breakfast team recreated their popular Pubcast, now in its eighth year, encouraging listeners to download and donate. This year’s guests were Kasabian’s Serge Pizzorno and Johnny Vaughan. One lucky competition winner also took home a Fender Player guitar, signed by Blur.

On Sunday, two of Scotland’s most-loved radio stars, Heart Scotland’s Des Clarke and Capital Scotland’s Fat Brestovci will be taking a breathtaking plunge off the iconic Forth Rail Bridge, dangling a whopping 165 feet above ground level as they abseil for Des and Fat’s Big Drop.

Donations are still needed, to support vital projects right across the UK. To donate £40, £30, £20 or £10 to Global’s Make Some Noise, text GIVE40, GIVE30, GIVE20 or GIVE10 to 70766 with 100% of donations going to Global’s Make Some Noise. T&Cs can be found online here.
