MONDAY
Bear tries a last-ditch attempt to get Claudia to change her mind about not keeping their baby, but it backfires and Claudia tells him to leave her alone and she will make plans on her own. Later,o ver a beer at the Icon, Sid tells Bear that he has been an idiot.
Zara talks her feelings over with Emma at lunch however, left alone, Zara breaks down sobbing at her desk. Is it the end of her relationship with Daniel or can they overcome the recent difficulties?
Suni is on a shift at the Young Person’s Mental Health Unit at St Phil’s and is called in to A&E to assess teenager Mark, who was brought in from the streets where he was sleeping rough. Mark has concussion and doesn’t want to give Suni his name or any of his details. Suni empathises with Mark and tries to get him to open up.
Suni can tell Mark isn’t being completely honest and he’s determined to get the truth. He starts getting somewhere with Mark but stressed A&E consultant Dr Stevenson puts pressure on annoyed Suni to move him out of A&E – they need the bed.
TUESDAY
Magda Nowak arrives at Al’s house for a physio session. Emma has sent Magda to check Al’s knee. Al declares he doesn’t need help, but Magda won’t budge; she’s staying. Magda questions Al about getting around. She bluntly encourages him to go to the shops with her, get some exercise, and keep his knee moving, but he gets out of it, arguing that exercise can be done inside. Later, when Magda has left, promising a future visit, Al calls Emma to indignantly accuse her of scheming and interfering with his life.
After a game of golf with Daniel, Hugo Crowley (58) tries to persuade Daniel that he is in the right and he shouldn’t let Zara walk all over him, Hugo thinks Daniel should fight back – blaming Zara because she kissed Miles. Daniel gets annoyed, admitting that Zara might have a point and that his judgement hasn’t been pristine recently. When he arrives home, Zara has a document for him to sign.
Kat Webster arrives home after an all-night lock-in. She encourages her daughter, Molly Webster, to find a man, but upon the discovery of baby items, she thinks Molly is pregnant. Kat calls Beth Webster, Molly’s sister, to tell her that Molly’s pregnant, then brings her into the Mill, where Beth meets them. Kat and Beth argue over Molly’s well-being. Beth accuses Kat of never having been a grownup or a responsible mom.
Kat argues that she gave Molly and Beth the best years of her life. Kat thinks being a mum will give Molly a purpose in life. Emma speaks with Kat and Molly, informing them that Molly isn’t pregnant. When Molly confesses that the baby, whom she’s named Libby, talks to her, Emma becomes concerned about her mental health.
WEDNESDAY
Bear tells Sid he’s received a text from Claudia. When Bear goes round to her house, there’s an uncomfortable feeling between them.
Andy Logan has broken down outside the campus surgery and is attempting to fix his van as Scarlett passes by on her way to work. Scarlett offers for him to clean up a bit inside as he waits for his car to be towed to a shop. He’s left his phone with Scarlett to be charged, and when he picks it up, he seems like he wants to talk, but gets emotional and leaves. Outside the surgery, Andy sees a couple of police constables heading in his direction and, panicking, hides.
Emma asks Scarlett about Andy, teasing her about how good-looking he was. Emma sees the grubby-looking van still parked outside and, curious, takes a closer look. Seeing a bunch of children’s toys on the passenger seat, Emma hails to the nearby constables. Later, Rob calls Scarlett to tell her the van outside belongs to a missing person. Scarlett approaches Andy, and they have a candid discussion about his situation.
THURSDAY
Zara has called a staff meeting. Kirsty, Scarlett and Rosie conjecture about whether it has to do with Al. Zara arrives and speaks with Emma. Emma’s concerned over how Zara’s coping. Daniel decides he needs to speak to The Mill staff and makes an announcement.
Rachel Carcross confronts Barney Hammond, annoyed by his incessant coughing, but then realises they’re both architecture majors and there’s a spark between them. Rachel visits the Campus Surgery and meets Pete Hope, a friend of Barney. Pete quickly becomes interested in Rachel and asks her out.
Barney, who’s getting over cancer, meets with Luca about his coughing. Luca reassures Barney that his symptoms are a side effect of his last course of chemo. Barney admits to Luca that he just wants a normal life and for people not to feel sorry for him.
Rachel gets her STI results from Luca and finds out she has chlamydia. Rachel worries that it might affect her fertility, but Luca quiets her fears. Later, Rachel, having heard from Pete about Barney’s cancer, flags him down to apologise for their earlier conversation. Pete and Rachel meet for coffee, and Rachel is confused as to why he would tell her about Barney’s cancer without his knowledge. Pete confesses that it was a good way to meet her. Rachel, shocked at Pete’s crassness and deciding she doesn’t like him very much after all, leaves. Rachel finds Barney in his room, and they bond over an architectural floor plan.
Barney confronts Pete about using his cancer to talk girls up. Pete isn’t bothered, encouraging Barney to use it himself, then lets Rachel’s condition slip too.
