Chloe Burrows urges people to not use hair curlers as sex toys

Mark Hill Hair has teamed up with Chloe Burrows to tour the public service announcement and prevent people from confusing its news jumbo waver with a sex toy…

Gemma Montgomery-Dickens, marketing director at Mark Hill Hair:

“We want to push the boundaries and disrupt the industry with our latest product development. However, in an attempt to stand out from the crowd, we have also had some phallic feedback on the look of our new jumbo waver hair tool. While we agree, that the bigger, the better, our new hair tool is definitely not a sex toy!”

Countless consumers are confusing Mark Hill Hair’s new styling wand as a sex toy, leading the brand to issue a public service announcement to avoid embarrassment and injury. Following the launch of its new jumbo waver styling tool, Mark Hill Hair was flooded with comments on social media about the similarities its product shares with other pleasure-giving items. In response, the brand has teamed up with Chloe Burrows – of Love Island and Celebs Go Dating fame – to take to the streets of the UK to remind people that, “this is not a sex toy!”.

Chloe spent a few hours in the Capital last week with a pink megaphone, and in Europe’s largest digital advan, to help spread the message, and avoid unsuspecting customers’ embarrassment when their innocent purchase was confused with something X-rated.

Research by Mark Hill Hair found that almost two-thirds (64%) of people thought that the hair curling tool was a sex toy. As a result, the brand and reality TV star are aiming to tackle the taboos of self-love.

Chloe and the Mark Hill Hair team toured some of London’s most famous landmarks including Elizabeth Tower (Big Ben), The London Eye, Oxford Street, Carnaby Street, Covent Garden, and Piccadilly Circus, as well as debuting an out-of-home (OOH) advertising campaign on billboards and buses across Nottingham, the home of the brand’s headquarters.

Gemma Montgomery-Dickens, marketing director at Mark Hill Hair:

“Following the feedback, we felt that we had to clarify the confusion and take to the streets to avoid any further red faces. Chloe and her big pink megaphone helped us shout it from the rooftops, while touring the city’s top destinations with a 33 square meter advan. We’re on a mission to help people feel comfortable with how they feel, look and live. Together we will turn taboos into talking points and create a place for open discussions on what really puts us at the top of our game.”

Mark Hill Hair launched the 32mm jumbo waver in response to customer demand for its original textured waver barrel which enables customers to achieve salon-quality, textured beach waves at home.
