We’ve had a Lake District Farm Shop experience, (pictured) and now Channel 4 head to a Cotswolds counterpart.
The family-run Gloucester Service Station in the stunning Cotswolds is a pitstop like few others, with shelves stacked with goods from local farmers, food producers and artisan crafters.
This series reveals the stories behind these extraordinary items and the people who make the service station so special. This first episode visits Jonathan Crump’s Gloucestershire farm, where he and his family live an idyllic good life surrounded by their chickens, sheep and rare-breed Gloucester cows. He’s the only cheesemaker in the world who uses milk from these rare-breed cows.
Farm shop buyer Alex visits the farm to try out Jonathan’s new flavoured cheese, and also to see if he would let them stock his rare-breed beef. This episode also explores Gloucester Services’ close association with the local community, through their work with the Bridging the Gap charity to help disadvantaged people back into employment, often in the farm shop itself.
And Tom Oliver, who’s been making cider from his Herefordshire farm for 16 years, wants to convince buyer Jane to stock a brand-new version of his perry on the farm shop shelves.
