Showbiz 5: From sexual material to free cake

Dan Wootton has been suspended by The Daily Mail after allegations emerged that he used a pseudonym to secretly offer his colleagues tens of thousands of pounds in return for sexual material reported The Guardian.

The GB News presenter has had a lucrative job writing a twice-weekly column for MailOnline since 2021 but it has not appeared since the allegations have been published across several stories by outlet Byline Times. Wootton who also spent a decade at ITV Daytime as gossip for Lorraine Kelly’s show is also being investigated by his former employer News UK where he worked for The Sun and The News of the World.

There hasn’t been much coverage of Dan and his alleged dirty deeds, not because they’re not serious allegations – its simply he’s not as famous as Huw Edwards or Philip Schofield and no one really cares. But some have suggested it is a little karma after his many TV programmes and articles that ‘exposed’ celebrities ranging from Stephen Gately to Caroline Flack.

Comedian Joe Pasquale has said he is lucky to be alive, BBC News reported, after a freak moose antler accident during his latest tour in Skegness. The squeaky-voiced funny man – who found fame on Central TV’s talent show New Faces – was in Skegness with his latest show The New Normal.

The Beeb went on to note that Pasquale described the incident where the Moose Antler prop from the production almost became a deathly disaster. He said he tripped and narrowly avoided stabbing himself in the stomach, however the antler penetrated his leg.

“It only got me in the back of the leg,” Pasquale was quoted as telling  Kate Thornton on the White Wine Question Time podcast. The comedian received seven stitches in his leg following the incident it was reported.

Just as well it didn’t get him in the bollocks, imagine how high his voice would be now…

Danny Miller and his wife Steph have welcomed their second baby as they shared the happy news on social media, reported ED!, The ex-Emmerdale actor and Steph announced in March that they were expecting another baby. They’re already parents to their son Albert, who was born in 2021. Now the couple have announced the arrival of baby number two the entertainment site noted.

“When three becomes four. Welcome to the World Baby Miller. We all love you more than you’ll ever know.” – Danny Miller

Danny has played Aaron Dingle in the ITV Yorkshire produced soap, on and off, since 2008. The part was originally played from 2003-06 by actor Danny Webb.

DeadLine report on ‘cake gate’, the publication noted this week ‘It’s the bizarre birthday cake row that’s gripping Britain.’ adding ‘Catherine Tyldesley, an actress best known for her work in ITV soap Coronation Street, has revealed that she has received “horrendous” online abuse after being accused of taking advantage of a small bakery in the pursuit of free cake.’

It seems the issue all started when a small Yorkshire bakery called ‘Three Little Birds’ was sent a request, via an agency on behalf of the actress, to make a “camp as tits” themed birthday cake and 100 cupcakes in exchange for social media promotion. Now most businesses would just reply ‘thanks, but no’. However TLB decided it was just too good to leave unbaked and sent it out there into the social media world where its seen the actress inundated with what some would call banter and others would say was abuse. And possibly a mixture of both.

In a Facebook post, Three Little Birds said: “We are blown away by all your support and so happy to see that so many other people agree that small business shouldn’t be taken advantage of!”

Lizzo has lost a significant number of followers on Instagram as allegations emerge of sexual harassment and body-shaming.

A lawsuit has been filed against the pop star, her dance captain Shirlene Quigley, and production company Big Grrrl Big Touring by three former dancers. The allegations include assault, racial and religious harassment, fat-shaming, disability discrimination, and false imprisonment. Lizzo has called the last few days “gut wrenchingly difficult” and refuted the “false allegations” as “unbelievable” in a long social media post.

A casino comparison site has analysed data on Lizzo’s social channels via Social Blade, revealing a loss of 226,933 followers on Instagram since the news broke. In just one day, the singer’s follower count fell by a huge 132,942. While on Twitter/X, Lizzo has lost over 27,000 followers since the lawsuit was filed in California on Tuesday 1st August.

Ionut Marin, Chief Editor for KingCasinoBonus commented on the social media figures:

“For Lizzo fans, it will be alarming to see their idol accused of body-shaming, assault and more, when she has been such a proponent of body positivity for women all over the world.”

“As the lawsuit continues and new reports emerge, it will be interesting to see how Lizzo’s Instagram followers will fluctuate. With over 24 million monthly listeners on Spotify, we could also see these figures fall over the coming weeks and months as more details are revealed. These reports could also threaten to derail any of the pop star’s music releases and tours in the future.”
