‘Affordable TV range’ launched by Roku and Sharp

Sharp Consumer Electronics, a technology company, and Roku are to launch a new Sharp Roku TV series in the United Kingdom, with the first models arriving in stores in August.

Arthur van Rest, VP International at Roku:

“Sharp Roku TV models bring the popular Roku TV experience to consumers, with easy access to live TV, streaming services and free entertainment,”

Sharp Roku TVs are powered by the Roku operating system, which was purposely designed for TV. On the customizable home screen, all traditional inputs and streaming channels come together, allowing users to personalize their TV experience. The built-in tuner and live TV experience enable consumers to connect an antenna for broadcast television. On the Roku platform, British consumers can stream global streaming services such as Netflix, Disney+, Paramount+, Apple TV and Prime Video, as well as local services such as BBC iPlayer, ITVX, Channel 4, My5 and NOW. For a full overview of available services consumers can visit the Roku Channel Store online.

To ensure the best picture performance, Sharp Roku 4K range is equipped with HDR10, Dolby Vision and HLG High Dynamic Range image technologies, while 2K models offer HDR10 standard to get maximum content quality from the streaming services. Dolby Technology delivers enhanced sound performance in 4K Sharp Roku TV models due to advanced sound quality algorithms.

From the Roku Channel Store, consumers can choose from thousands of free and paid streaming channels. To discover new levels of entertainment, consumers can search for titles, actors and directors using Roku’s universal search across the top channels, with results ranked by price. Sharp Roku TV models also work with the free Roku mobile app, which can be used as a remote control for voice search and control, and for private listening. For seamless integration into existing smart homes, Sharp Roku TV models are compatible with Alexa, Google Assistant, and Siri. To share media from a mobile device to a Sharp Roku TV, consumers can use the free mobile app or mirror their screen using Airplay 2 or Miracast.

Sascha Lange, Vice President Marketing & Sales at Sharp:

“We are excited to expand our collaboration with Roku and bring an entire line-up of Sharp Roku TVs to the United Kingdom,”
