Shereen Cutkelvin has been named as the new Saturday Mash-Up! co-presenter alongside long-standing hosts Joe Tasker and resident monster Stanley.
Shereen Cutkelvin:
“I am thrilled to be joining Joe and Stanley to present Saturday Mash-Up! We have such a laugh together and can’t wait to get going. Even the 4am alarm call will be worth it because we’re going to have so much fun!”
Shereen joins the live entertainment show for a brand-new series, which returns to CBBC on Saturday 8 July, with more fun-filled mayhem, celebrity guests, hilarious games, the best cartoons and lots of slime!
Shereen currently co-hosts the BBC Introducing in Scotland radio show and has presented BBC Radio 1’s Early Breakfast and CBBC’s music magazine show Love, Love, Love. Shereen, who hails from Lanark, is also an actress and singer/songwriter and made it to ITV’s The X Factor semi-finals in 2017.
Saturday Mash-Up! is the UK’s only live Saturday morning kids show, continuing the long tradition of iconic Saturday morning programmes that began with Swap Shop and has evolved through Saturday Superstore, Going Live!, Live and Kicking and Fully Booked.
Sarah Muller, Senior Head of BBC Children’s Commissioning 7+:
“Over the last year, Shereen wowed us as the voice-over artist for Saturday Mash-Up! and we asked her to step up as co-presenter because she is just fantastic alongside Joe Tasker and Stanley. She’s loved by the audience, works brilliantly with kids and is full of fun and energy, which is perfect for Saturday mornings!”
The new series will include a whole host of new features, competitions and prizes. The team will also broadcast from the roof of Glasgow’s BBC Pacific Quay Studios with summer games and music performances. Viewers at home can interact with the show and get in touch via the CBBC website.
Joe and Shereen will travel around Scotland going head-to-head in some weird and wonderful challenges involving members of the public. In the first programme of the series on Saturday 8 July, Stanley goes behind the scenes at Wimbledon.
Saturday Mash-Up! LIVE airs live on CBBC and BBC iPlayer from 9 am on Saturday 8 July.
