Former EastEnders star Angela Wynter is making a return to the BBC One soap as Yolande Trueman.
Back in March, Yolande’s ex-husband Patrick (Rudolph Walker) temporarily left Walford, heading to Birmingham to try to revive their romance.
Patrick is due to return next week and it has now been confirmed that Yolande will be appearing on screen alongside him this summer.
Angela Wynter said:
“I have been really looking forward to playing her again and have had a beautiful time on set so far. I can’t thank the cast and crew enough for the warm welcome back.”
The actress previously played the role between 2003 and 2008, and briefly in 2017.
Yolande’s storylines include a feud with Pat Evans after Patrick had an affair with her. When Patrick was attacked, she supported him, as well as when his son Paul was murdered, while the pair were foster carers for a time.
She left the Square in September 2008 to take a position with Minute Mart HQ in Birmingham, without Patrick.
In March 2017, Denise Fox (Diane Parish) was summoned to Minute Mart HQ after getting into trouble with the police, accused of bringing the company into disrepute. Yolande was sympathetic when she interviewed her.
A few months later, Yolande made a surprise appearance at Patrick’s 77th birthday party in The Queen Vic.
Producer Chris Clenshaw has said of her return:
“I’m thrilled to welcome the immensely talented Angela back to the role of Yolande Trueman. Although we haven’t seen Yolande for some years, her departure from the Square and the breakdown of her marriage to Walford’s living legend, Patrick, left some unfinished business between the pair. We therefore thought it was important to explore a reunion between the two. We couldn’t be more thrilled to have her back!”
EastEnders airs Monday-Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer
