Highlights for Saturday, June 17th…

LATER… WITH JOOLS HOLLAND

Jools Holland returns to Alexandra Palace Theatre in North London with another show packed full of live music and chat. This week, Jools welcomes the Los Angeles based, British-American, gospel-soul trio Gabriels with tracks from their forthcoming second album, Angels & Queens: Part II. Frontman Jacob Lusk also chats to Jools at the piano and joins him for a rousing rendition of his favourite gospel tune.

Also returning is Malian musician and pioneer Fatoumata Diawara. Two artists who have previously appeared on the show return tonight, but with new projects and musical offerings. The first is Far From Saints, a collaboration between Stereophonics’ Kelly Jones and The Wind and The Wave’s Patty Lynn and Dwight Baker. Together they make their debut as a band on Later… and perform a couple of tracks from their recently released, self-titled album, which crosses multiple genres from country to rock, folk, soul and Americana.

The second, from Dublin, is Fontaines D.C. frontman Grian Chatten, who makes his solo debut with a performance of Fairlies. Fairlies is the latest single from his upcoming album Chaos For The Fly, which is co-produced with Dan Carey and is a song the Irish musician wrote in intense heat between Spain and Los Angeles. Completing the performance line-up and making his TV debut on the show is Oxford’s Elmiene – a brand new star of the British soul scene who has previously worked with Stormzy.
