The Prince’s Trust drops Phillip Schofield as ambassador

Philip Schofield has been dropped as an ambassador by the Prince’s Trust after admitting that he had an “unwise” affair.

The charity said in a statement:

“In light of Phillip’s recent admissions, we have agreed with him that it is no longer appropriate to work together.”

Founded by His Majesty King Charles in 1976, the trust helps young people who have faced disadvantage and adversity to build a better future for themselves, through employment, education and enterprise. Its fundraising and promotional efforts are supported by celebrity ambassadors.

Schofield resigned from ITV on Friday (26th May) and was dropped by his talent agency YMU after admitting that he had an “unwise, but not illegal” affair with a young male runner from This Morning.

ITV faces questions over how much it knew about the affair, but Schofield has not implicated the broadcaster, apologising for lying to them, his family, and the media. Due to the fact that the young runner was his junior on the daytime production, his behaviour has been criticised as an ‘abuse of power’.

According to ITV, it investigated rumours of the affair in early 2020, and both parties “categorically and repeatedly” denied that anything had happened.
