Philip Schofield has been labelled a ‘delusional liar’ by Eamonn Holmes.
He was responding to a statement made by Schofield earlier today in which he called his critics “a handful of people with a grudge against me”.
Taking to Twitter to slam the statement, Eamonn Holmes wrote:
“Schofield has just put out a delusional statement. Like Holly he puts it on Insta Stories so if it goes wrong there is no record after 24 hrs. I’m reluctant to give the liar any more publicity but believe me Pip if u r looking for a fight , u have picked on the wrong person !”
Between 2006-2021, Holmes and his wife Ruth Langsford (pictured left) hosted This Morning every Friday. The pair also provided holiday coverage and Ruth occasionally hosted with Schofield (pictured right). Holmes recently criticised Schofield for his lack of kindness and has mocked the PR speak surrounding his ‘resignation’ from This Morning.
On Saturday 20th May, Schofield announced that he had “stepped down” from the show amid reports of a rift with co-host Holly Willoughby. A week later, he admitted to having had an “unwise, but not illegal” affair with a young male runner who worked on the show.
ITV faces questions over how much it knew about the affair, but Schofield has not implicated the broadcaster, apologising for lying to them, his family, and the media. Due to the fact that the young runner was his junior on the daytime production, his behaviour has been criticised as an ‘abuse of power’.
Following the bombshell admission, Schofield ‘resigned’ from ITV immediately. He has also been dropped by talent agency YMU who said his statement about the affair ‘contradicted’ information he had told them previously.
The Mail On Sunday reported that his lover was just 15 when they first met as Schofield – then in his late forties – gave a talk at a theatre school. It is believed that their sexual relationship developed a few years later, after the young man began working on This Morning.
