Today on Good Morning Britain, the latest contestant to leave the I’m A Celebrity All-Star jungle, Dean Gaffney joined hosts Susanna Reid and Adil Ray to share that he is one of the first contestants to put on weight in the jungle. Dean also spoke on being mistaken as the dad of his granddaughters and his newfound friendship with campmate Joe Swash.
Dean shared, “It’s a great honour to have been asked back. I think it’s something like 300 people have gone through camp in the last 22 years, and as 1 of 15 to be asked back was actually a great accolade.”
Dean then went on to confess that he has put on nearly a stone during his short time in the jungle this second time around, “This is true, cause we kept winning, it was brilliant! For me it was an absolute breeze going into camp, I went in there for six, seven days, I ate like a King and it was nice!
“That’s the thing in camp, people do lose weight. When I was in the original camp, with David Gest, rest his soul, I lost two stone and now I’ve put on nearly a stone!”
Expressing his disbelief at people thinking that his granddaughters are his children and also being compared to model David Gandy, Dean said, “It’s scary, they think my children are young, they think my granddaughters are my daughters. But yeah, my lovely daughters are 27 this year. David Gandy, I wish, I wish I was a supermodel! Yeah, I have been told that a few times.”
Dean also surprised Susanna with his biggest challenge being in the jungle, “The worst thing for me was not having a mirror, a silly little thing like a mirror. You wake up in the morning, we all have bed head and you wake up and you’re like, ‘Ah what do I look like?’, you can’t see!”
While also setting the record straight, “Can I just clear up that I did have a shower every day, two showers a day. They said on the show the other day that ‘it was my first shower in five days.'”
Dean then spoke on his fellow campmate and friend Joe Swash saying, “I think for Joe in his own words, [he] was basically saying that when he was on the show [the first time] he was a bit of a cheeky chappy, single guy and now he’s got a family, to kind of look after. And he missed his wife, he missed Stacey, missed the kids.
“It was lovely to be in there with Joe, he’s actually become one of my really close mates.”
