Just hours before the King’s Coronation, McDonald’s surprises customers in Windsor with a regal rendition of the restaurant’s jingle, performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
Giving McDonald’s customers in Windsor the royal treatment, the new, extended piece is a re-interpretation of its famous “ba da ba ba ba” jingle. Inspired by regal fanfares and Baroque classics, the re-recording was commissioned by McDonald’s to commemorate the once-in-a-generation event of King Charles III’s Coronation. The extended, twenty-second jingle features an array of brass instruments including trumpets and tubas, to lend a more striking sound to the feature-length piece, and was commissioned exclusively for the King, who incidentally is a patron of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

Customers were spotted looking surprised whilst tucking into their McDonald’s breakfast orders, as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra popped up from around the restaurant playing the royal jingle. After the performance, the orchestra continued to spread some royal joy throughout the town by visiting local attractions, whilst locals prepared for a weekend of festivities, including the Coronation Concert in Windsor.
The update to the McDonald’s ‘Five Note Sting’, the jingle played at the end of its advertising and familiar to millions simply as “ba da ba ba ba”, follows on from the jingle created ahead of Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022. The 2023 version will also be running on TV and radio ads over the Coronation weekend.
Carrying the celebrations right through to Bank Holiday Monday, there will be some great offers up for grabs exclusively via the McDonald’s App.
