Premier Inn re-brands London hotel ‘Cor-Inn-nation’ for royal weekend

A London hotel has been renamed ‘Cor-Inn-nation’ – in honour of King Charles’ big day yesterday.

The Premier Inn London Bank, on St Mary-at-Hill, the building features new signage to greet guests arriving for the special occasion. The re-brand will be in situ throughout the coronation weekend, launched with its own guard at the entrance. It comes after research by the hotel chain found 17 per cent of Brits had been planning to head down to the capital for the coronation.

Simon Ewins, managing director at Premier Inn:

“Millions of people across the nation have been celebrating the coronation, with many descending on the capital to celebrate this momentous day in person. We wanted to mark the occasion in a special way by renaming one of our central London hotels for the special event. We’re looking forward to welcoming lots of well-wishers to our venues in the capital over the weekend.”

The survey of 2,000 adults also found they were willing to travel an average of more than 100 miles to see the big moment. While 18 per cent would even consider camping out in the big city to get the best spot for the shindig. More than one in five (21 per cent) have travelled to London for a royal event in the past, including Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations in 2012, or the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton the year before. And 20 per cent made the trip to mark Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday celebrations in 2016.

And 26 per cent thought they might get a chance to appear on TV, according to the OnePoll.com figures. It also emerged 32 per cent of all adults polled said the extra bank holiday is what they’re looking forward to most about the celebrations.
