Nearly 70 years after Queen Elizabeth’s Coronation – a milestone for TV broadcasting – a new generation of people around the world will be able to watch the King and Queen Consort crowned in the clarity of Ultra HD, for free on Sky News. Viewers will get the best seat in the house wherever they are and on any device with multiple live stream cameras available to watch on the website, App and on YouTube. The cameras will be located at key locations for the day’s events, offering unprecedented access to the pomp and pageantry.
In addition to the live coverage, a special 30-min documentary ‘King Charles: My King’ with Niall Paterson will air on Sky News on Sunday 30th April at 8pm. The documentary travels the country exploring public opinion towards the King and the monarchy, taking a temperature test for support, and looking at the challenges that may be ahead for the new Head of State. It will also be available to watch on the Sky News website, YouTube and On Demand on TV.
A three-episode podcast miniseries ‘Queen Camilla: For the love of Charles’ will launch on 3rd May. Fronted by Kay Burley, the podcast follows Camilla’s journey to becoming Queen, speaking with those who know her well and asking, how Camilla and the Palace have turned public opinion from her being the ‘most hated woman in Britain’ to being embraced as the new Queen.
Ad breaks will be removed between 9am-3pm on Sky News to ensure uninterrupted coverage of the main Coronation programme on Saturday 6th May.
