UK bookmaker William Hill are 9/2 that King Charles’ Coronation on May 6 will have more TV viewers than the Euro 2020 final.
The Coronation of Charles III would have to attract more than 29.85 million TV viewers to overcome the average audience for when England lost to Italy on penalties at Wembley in 2021.The event could also have a higher TV audience than other iconic moments in history, including the 1966 World Cup final (32.30m) at 6/1, and the Apollo 13 Moon Landing (28.6m) at 4/1.
William Hill spokesperson, Lee Phelps:
“The Coronation of King Charles III could attract one of the biggest UK TV audiences in recent memory and we are offering odds of 9/2 for it to eclipse the 29.85 million watchers registered during the Euro 2020 final that saw England lose to Italy.
“We may also see the landmark event bringing in more viewers than the iconic Apollo 13 Moon Landing’s 28.6m at 4/1, and even the 1966 World Cup final, which was watched by 32.30 million, at 6/1.”
