A man who had gone through a full sex-change process and was living as Miss Rachel Pedlar was having problems with getting hold of her pension.
The retirement age for men was 65, with women allowed the funds from 60. Miss Pedlar, at 62 years old, while now physically and mentally female her pension fund was not.
ATV Today reporter Tony Maycock interviewed Miss Pedlar, from Shirley, about her hopes to succeed in the request for the old age pension and the problems she is encountering with the authorities concerned.
The report also features an interview with Rachel’s solicitor, Ivan Leon, about the legal position, and the confusion about whether or not Miss Pedlar is legally recognised as a woman.
