The Irish version of Strictly Come Dancing has crowned its winner

Brooke Scullion, Damian McGinty and Suzanne Jackson were the other three celebrities to reach tonight’s grand final and what a show they all gave on RTÉ One.

After eleven spectacular shows filled with glitz and glamour, highs and lows and captivating dances along the way, Carl and his pro partner Emily have been crowned Dancing with the Stars champions for 2023. Carl Mullan is best known for his work on Irish television and is currently one of the presenters on the RTÉ 2fm Breakfast Show.

Carl Mullan:

“Ais has been such a rock. My whole family. Thank you so much for all the love and support online and in the streets. Emily, I’m so buzzing we won this for you.  You deserve this.”

The grand final of series six of Dancing with the Stars opened in a very special way as all the pro dancers, judges and hosts were all on the dancefloor together to kick off the evening dancing to Lionheart (Fearless) by Joel Corry and Tom Grennan. Each of the four finalist couples braved those stairs for one last time as they joined the dancefloor.  Carl Mullan and Emily Barker, Suzanne Jackson and Michael Danilczuk, Brooke Scullion and Robert Rowiński and Damian McGinty and Kylee Vincent were the four couples to reach the final after an outstanding season.Hosts Jennifer Zamparelli and Doireann Garrihy oversaw proceedings meanwhile judges Loraine Barry, Brian Redmond and Arthur Gourounlian watched on as everything unfolded on the dancefloor tonight.  However, in the grand final, their votes don’t count so it was all down to the public vote for a sensational end to the series.

Emily Barker:

“This is a dream. I’ve waited so long for this moment. Six seasons. Carl has been a dream to work with.”
