Vicki Michelle has joined the cast of EastEnders for a short stint as Jo Cotton, wife of Rocky Cotton, played by Brian Conley.
With Rocky being less than honest about his past, little is known about his former relationship. How will he react when his past catches up with him?
Speaking on joining the show, Vicki said:
“I’m so excited to be in EastEnders and everyone has been so lovely. Jo Cotton is a great character and it is such a great story. I can’t wait for the audience to meet her.”
The actress has had an illustrious career across both the big and small screen, but is best known for her role as waitress Yvette Carte-Blanche in the classic BBC sitcom ‘Allo ‘Allo!
Created by David Croft and Jeremy Lloyd, ‘Allo ‘Allo! told the story of life around a café in German-occupied France in which Rene Artois (the late Gorden Kaye) juggled secret resistance work and a hectic love life with serving hapless German officers including Colonel Von Strohm, Captain Geering and Lt Gruber.
It ran for nine series from 1984 to 1992 and drew a weekly audience of almost 14 million viewers.
Chris Clenshaw, Executive Producer of EastEnders, said of Vicki joining the soap:
“We’re thrilled to welcome the immensely talented Vicki to the EastEnders family, as she brings to life the character of Jo Cotton. Vicki is the perfect fit to take on the elusive character of Rocky’s wife that we know very little about. Brash, quick-witted, and extremely glamorous, Jo is akin to her long-lost husband, Rocky and as you would expect she is immediately thrown into the heart of the drama when she arrives in Walford.”
Filming has already begun and she will appear in two episodes next month.
