Alexandra Mardell and her professional partner Kai Widdrington have won this years’ Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special.
The judges gave their Quickstep to ‘Sleigh Ride’ by The Ronettes full marks.
Others in the running for the silver star trophy this year were: Larry Lamb and Nadiya Bychkova, Rosie Ramsey and Neil Jones, George Webster and Amy Dowden, Ricky Haywood-Williams and Luba Mushtuk and Nicola Roberts and Giovanni Pernice.
The Strictly professionals and the celebrities kicked off the show with a special group performance to to a festive medley of ‘Let It Snow’, ‘The Nutcracker Suite’ and ‘Santa Claus is Coming to Town’.
Once all couples had danced, the studio audience voted for their favourite and their votes were combined with the judges’ scores to decide the winner.
Alexandra said of her victory:
“I am so shocked, I cannot thank you enough. I’m so happy about that, I did that for you [Kai] as well, I can’t believe it.”
The special also saw the return of former judge Bruno Tonioli with his take on ‘Don’t Leave Me This Way’ by The Communards with some of the Strictly professionals taking to the floor as he sang.
The show closed with the couples and judges taking to the floor to ‘All You Need is Love’ by The Beatles.
