BBC One gets its dancing shoes on for Strictly Come Dancing Christmas

Tis the season to make the ballroom jolly…

Strictly Come Dancing returns to the Ballroom for an all-star Christmas special, once again bringing festive fun, frolics and fab-u-lous dancing to homes across the nation.

Head Judge Shirley Ballas:

“I’m hoping that we see some nice dancing, some lovely little footwork and some hip action. Normally when they only have to dance once everybody gets all nervous, but I’m hoping that they’ll realise it is a Christmas Special, it’s for fun!”

Six stars will take to the floor in a bid to be crowned Christmas Champion 2022, but will the judges be naughty or nice to them?

Hosted by Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, the Christmas Special will include a merry musical performance and some spectacular group routines including the celebrities and their professional partners, guaranteed to spread Christmas cheer.

Taking to the festive ballroom this year are Rosie Ramsay, Rickie Haywood-Williams, Alexandra Mardell, Larry Lamb, Nicola Roberts and George Webster.

Rosie is dancing with Neil Jones, Rickie’s dancing with Luba Mushtuk, Alexandra’s dancing with Kai Widdrington, Larry’s dancing with Nadiya Bychkova, Nicola’s dancing with Giovanni Pernice and George is dancing with Amy Dowden.

Anton Du Beke:

“Christmas joyous fun. That’s the thing about Strictly Christmas, it’s joyous. It’s just brilliant. I love the fantastic costumes, the 25 foot Christmas tree, the way they dress the studio. It really does feel like Christmas.”

The Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Christmas Day.
