Mothership Productions have been commissioned to make ‘Around the World in Eighty Weighs’

Channel 4 have billed the series as ‘warm’, but note that the light it shines on the global obesity crisis may shock some viewers.

Across six episodes, Brits who are eager to shed the pounds will travel the world to gain a better understanding of the relationship between food, culture and body size.

They will be seeing if they can lose weight along the way.

Alisa Pomeroy, Head of Documentaries said: 

“Global obesity is one of the unseen world-wide crises of our time, and we are delighted to be working with Mothership on their first commission for Documentaries, tackling such an important topic.”

The show will be produced by Mothership, a production company that was recently launched by Kelly Webb-Lamb, Gilly Greenslade and Charlotte Desai.

The trio have created, produced or commissioned numerous global formats including Bake Off, The Apprentice, Hunted and The Undateables.

Around The World in Eighty Weighs marks the company’s first documentary commission.
