OTD 1960: Noele Gordon opens Lunch Box talent search
On this Day, December 7th 1960….
ATV Midlands News took a look at how Noele Gordon hosted daytime series Lunch Box was holding auditions for the next ‘ATV television star’.
The pioneering daytime series saw several other versions across the ITV regions such as TTTV’s The One O’Clock Show and Scottish Television’s The One O’Clock Gang, while Lunch Box itself would air occasionally across the ITV network, and an annual Christmas special was also transmitted across the UK.
The show was female focused and topics and issues concerning women and their lives often featured along with cabaret, star interviews and special filmed reports which saw Noele attempt several ‘have a go’ tasks including becoming a firefighter, a coal miner and driving a train to name only a few.
