Kevin McCloud finds Grand Designs in a Dutch barn

Best on the Box highlight for November 23rd…

Kevin McCloud continues his nationwide journey to explore the spectacular homes in the running for the 2022 Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) House of the Year award.

In every episode Kevin’s joined by architect Damion Burrows, design expert Michelle Ogundehin and, new to this series, conservation architect Natasha Huq, as they exclusively reveal which houses the RIBA judges have put through to the shortlist, and in the final programme, announce the winner of this prestigious prize.

In this, the second edition of the series, they visit five homes that have undergone incredible transformations, before finding out which of them the judges have selected for the shortlist. There’s a beautiful renovation of a Dutch barn in Sussex; a ruined parchment factory reborn as a delicate glass-walled extension in Northamptonshire; a London mews that’s undergone a staggering eco upgrade; a breathtakingly beautiful library hidden within a former cowshed in Dorset; and on the picturesque shores of the Kyles of Bute, two tiny flats that have been fused to create a stunning bolthole full of history.
