In recognition of Good Divorce Week, Hedges Law, one of Oxfordshire’s longest serving law firms, will be offering a limited number of free-of-charge, no obligation consultations to individuals to discuss the financial impact of divorce and separation.
Now in its 10th year, Good Divorce Week is a yearly campaign organised by Resolution, a national body with 6,500 members. Resolution is committed to dealing with family cases amicably, with compassion and sensitivity, and to limit conflict in divorce. The week will be an opportunity to highlight the current crisis engulfing the family courts in the UK and to raise awareness of the ways families can resolve disputes away from court, when safe and appropriate to do so.
This year’s ONS divorce statistics showed a 10% increase in divorces in 2021 after the end of UK lockdowns. Family Courts have also reported a 22% rise in divorce applications in the second quarter of 2022, when compared to the same time last year. These figures highlight the pressures Family Courts are currently facing post pandemic.
In support of Good Divorce Week, Hedges Law is providing ten free one-on-one consultations to individuals in Oxfordshire and surrounding areas. These sessions, lasting 45 minutes will be offered by the firm’s Family Team in its Oxfordshire office in Wallingford and online. A Hedges Law solicitor will provide guidance and information on the splitting of matrimonial assets, including money, businesses, property, pensions and income.
Carrie Rudge, Solicitor and Mediator at Hedges Law:
“Hedges Law has always been about the people we help, and when it comes to divorce this sense of community is as important as ever. It is usually an extremely difficult and stressful time for families, and having the right support and advice can help save unnecessary stress and avoid potential conflict.
“The work Resolution does is vital to ensuring people understand the options available to them and their family. Its Good Divorce Week campaign plays an important part in promoting this message. As a people first law firm, we’re immensely proud to be participating by offering our free-of-charge consultation to those that have already separated or considering a separation.”
The Family Team consultations mark another important step in Hedges Law’s commitment to the local community. Also, this month Nicola Poole, Director of Culture and Innovation at Hedges Law, is heading to the Moroccan Sahara to take on the Sahara Trek, in aid of the firm’s chosen charity of the year, SeeSaw, a grief support charity, helping families in Oxfordshire.
Hedges Law, an Employee Ownership Trust led law firm, has business hubs in Oxford, Wallingford, London, and the Cotswolds. The team provides legal support for its clients across all aspects of their lives, including family and property law advice, dispute resolution, as well as advising on wills, probate, and inheritance planning.
