Sarah Jayne Dunn was “pitted against” female co-stars on Hollyoaks

During her time on Hollyoaks, Sarah Jayne Dunn claims that she was “pitted against” her female co-stars.

When it came to shooting their yearly calendar photos, Dunn told The Sun newspaper that the female cast members got competitive.

“You would get pitted against other girls, It would be like, ‘You’re not on the cover this year’, or you would be feeling guilty because you were on the cover.”

“It is not a nice thing,” she added.

“And that’s the great bit about platforms like OnlyFans – it takes that away. I have my subscribers and I’m not fighting against someone else, saying: ‘Don’t go to her, come over to me’. They want to follow me and that’s great.”

In November 2021, Hollyoaks announced that Dunn would be leaving her long-running role as Mandy Richardson in the soap after joining OnlyFans. The 40-year-old star had begun sharing suggestive snaps on the adult site in a bid to “take back control” of her public image.

The show said in a statement at the time:

“We take our responsibility to our young audience very seriously and therefore the show does not allow any Hollyoaks cast members to be active on certain 18+ websites. We had hoped we could reach a resolution with Sarah that would allow her to remain in her role as Mandy, but we respect her choice to continue to produce content on OnlyFans.”

One of Hollyoaks’ longest-running characters, Mandy appeared for the first time in 1996. Her storylines included coming to terms with childhood sexual abuse; her brother, Lewis taking his own life; and the loss of her baby daughter Grace to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.
