There has been no gong show in 2020 or 2021.
ITV has confirmed that the The British Soap Awards will be returning this year following a two year hiatus due to Coronavirus.
The awards will be held at the Hackney Empire in London this June.
Phillip Schofield is to reprise his role as the ceremony’s primary host while an array of faces from TV and showbiz will present the individual award categories.

The five biggest soaps – Coronation Street, Doctors, EastEnders, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks – will be battling it out to win recognition for their work over the past year. Talent from the shows will be hitting the red carpet for the star-studded event.
After two years off-air, producers have taken the opportunity to refresh the award categories and for 2022 there will be 14 awards voted for either by the public or a panel of expert judges. The long list categories for the public voted awards will open next Tuesday 19th April at 10am.
The annual awards ceremony will, as ever, celebrate the best of British soap opera from the past 12 months.
Some of the highlights from the past year in soap include Janine Butcher’s return to Albert Square in EastEnders; the hard-hitting hate crime storyline in Coronation Street that saw Seb Franklin lose his life; Summer’s quest to destroy Brody for his role in her father’s death on Hollyoaks, Meena Jutla’s reign of terror in Emmerdale and Rob’s relationship woes with Karen in Doctors.
