OTD 1973: Chris Tarrant and Women Wrestlers

On this Day: March 26th, 1973.

ATV Today reporter for ATV Midlands Chris Tarrant headed to a female wrestling match held at the Mayfair Suite in Birmingham.

The footage shows Chris getting into some tricky manoeuvres with Hellcat Haggerty, who he also interviews. He also chats to Hellcat’s manager and promotor who is asked about the ‘trouble’ caused by the women’s lib movement at previous events.

The feature also contains shots of Hellcat Haggerty wrestling with another woman. Chris then talks with spectators about their reactions to women wrestlers, some who are getting very into the sport as the action happens.
