More Lateish Show for Channel 4

The Mo Gilligan fronted series has proved a hit for the network.

The Lateish Show with Mo Gilligan, the entertainment chat show will be back on screen as the broadcaster confirms a third and fourth series in a double-commission. Mo Gilligan was awarded a BAFTA in the Entertainment Performance category in 2021 for the series and is instrumental in the creative direction of the show which will return to Channel 4 later this year.

Mo Gilligan:

“I’m absolutely thrilled that Channel 4 have given us such an incredible commissioning commitment. The whole team is very proud of Lateish and through this long-term partnership we’ll continue to work hard to make the very best show we can, whilst also creating more opportunities behind camera for those from underrepresented groups.”’

The series features games, sketches, music and chat with some of the biggest stars from the worlds of entertainment, music and sport. Star guests who have appeared on the show include Riz Ahmed, Jada Pinkett Smith, David Schwimmer, Tyson Fury, Jack Whitehall, David Walliams, Martin Freeman, KSI, Aisling Bea, Steve Coogan and Lily Allen.

Highlights from the last series include the new strand Reply or Deny which saw Joel Dommett admit to some jaw dropping confessions, David Walliams joining the cast of Magic Mike in Nursery Grimes and some amazing revelations such as the fact Lily Allen tells everyone she meets that she met her partner on the show, to avoid saying “we met online”.

The double-order comprises two eight part series that will transmit in the usual hour-long slots. Gilligan will also extend his The Lateish Accelerator Programme in collaboration with Channel 4 and Expectation, providing paid production roles to drive forward the careers of talented individuals within the industry from underrepresented groups.

Channel 4’s Phil Harris, Head of Entertainment:

“Channel 4 is proud to be the home of the most exciting names in comedy entertainment and even as he takes over the world, Mo still maintains his incredible passion for The Lateish Show. This two-series recommission cements our commitment to Mo and his place as a key Channel 4 talent.”
